A few months ago I bought this Western Digital Elements 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive to backup all my files on my laptop, since all I use is a laptop.
I must say I have been very happy with it. The 1 TB gives me plenty of room for all my files plus much extra space to add lots more down the road. It was easy to hook up and use.
This WD external hard drive has a power cord and a 2.0 USB cord to attach to the drive and your computer. Once you plug it into your computer a screen opens up letting you see what is on the drive and what functions you want to perform.
It’s a very simple task to copy whatever files you want from your computer to the hard drive. It’s no harder than transferring files from one place to the other within your computer.
You can also get this Western Digital Elements External Hard Drive in 1.5 TB, 2.0 TB, 2.5 TB, 3.0 TB and 500 GB capacity. The price is reasonable for this type of hard drive.
I’ve only had a few times when there was a few clicks and noises coming from the hard drive. Most of the time it operates very smoothly and quietly. Seems pretty fast moving files also.
As for compatibility it is available USB port, Mac OS® X Tiger® or Leopard®, Windows® Vista®/XP. So it pretty much covers most operating systems.
You can leave it plugged into your computer and it will turn on and off with your computer. I myself turn it off each time as I only use it to copy files to it ever so often.
It really gives you peace of mind to know your files are backed up onto a solid external hard drive. So I highly recommend this Western Digital WD Elements 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive!
